Sitka/Mahogany Thin Body, Short Scale SJ

Here are some sneak previews!

Lutz Spruce/Koa Mid-Depth SJ
$8,950

Be Still My Heart!

1/2” less body depth than our Standard SJ - providing more comfort and reach around the body.

Bill was able to hand select this set of Koa from our Hawaiian supplier while they were in the states. It embodies a natural "Heart" shape nestled in the back with a warm caramelly color & flame, making this guitar very unique. He also chose a high flamed Koa binding, rosette, and fingerboard/headstock trim which just encompasses the back & sides. A modest fingerboard inlay was chosen for a clean austere look.

While playing and conversing about this guitar we found it Vibrant, Lively, & Bright. The words “it’s the fruit on your plate! It is appetizing, just pops!” was mentioned. A very clean even tone across the body range. The Lutz top is nice tight & silky and will open up even more over time.

2015 Highly Figured Mango/ Engelmann SJ
Demo/Show Guitar - Sold

This has been our show piece for Demos and Guitar Shows for the last two years.

Flamed Koa Binding, Top Trim, Headstock Trim, Back Stripe, & Rosette; Koa Arm, Rib Bevel, and Sound-port; Segmented Koa Fingerboard Trim; Koa Scrip "S" Fingerboard Inlay; Charis Custom Gold Gotoh 510 Tuners with custom Koa Buttons; Custom Koa Dots in the Bridge Pins and Fingerboard Side Markers; Scale Length 25.6 (14 frets to body); Nut width 1 3/4 inch; Saddle spacing 2 1/4 inch; Comes in a Mainstage Fiberglass Custom Flight Case.

Sound Description and Notes:

"It is very expressive. Responds well to a light touch and doesn’t mind being pushed. It would not be my choice for a hard driving flat picker. The tone is balanced. It is a dryer tone like Mahogany, not reverby like the rosewoods. The Engelmann top has a nice richness to the overtones but doesn’t bury the fundamental in complexity.

Mango is recognized as a tonewood, but it is not one of the more common choices. This Mango came from Hawaii. I selected this set, and a few more like it, directly from the person who cut the logs. It is light weight, unlike some of the Mango from other parts of the world. It had a similar feel to Koa when I worked with it in the shop." -Bill
